📍 Shanghai Bend Levee Break Site

The location where the Feather River levee failed at 12:04 a.m. on December 24, 1955, causing the deadliest flood disaster in modern Yuba-Sutter history. A 23-foot wall of water poured through the breach, killing 38 people and leaving 40,000 homeless. The site is approximately two miles south of Yuba City.
